We have an internal initiative at Embrace Marketing called “FUEL” where we share the latest branding, design and marketing techniques as a team. With lots of exciting design trends floating around in 2021, our design team thought it’d be fun to share the latest trends that they are loving at the moment with you.
3D design is quickly becoming one of the most imaginative and in-depth techniques out there. Using a combination of 3D objects with illustrations, photo images and 2D design helps to create an immersive feel.
2. Symbol revival
The world is getting smaller, and businesses are now able to communicate around the world at the click of a button. Symbols can surpass language with coloured bars on a waving banner unifying a nation, and a shape as simple as a red octagon saving lives at a busy intersection. They are a great way to get your message across loud and clear to an audience that doesn’t always speak your language!
3. Irrelevant characters
Think meerkats, nodding dogs and pandas eating biscuits. Irrelevant characters have been around for a long time, but they are making an exciting comeback across the industry this year. A lot of designers are looking to scrap abstract visuals and are welcoming the use of quirky characters instead. Non-traditional looks to be the way forward and using this trend will only make your designs more memorable.
4. Geometric shapes
They’ve been around for yonks, but we’ve picked out geometric shapes as a growing trend. Stripping designs back to their simplest forms and injecting a bit of artistic flair can really create a visual masterpiece! Simple yet effective is what we think!
5. Optical illusions
What do you think of when we say, “optical illusions”? Is the dress white and gold or blue and black? Stare at the dot for 30 seconds and everything else starts to move. There are no rules with optical illusions except to spark joy! So, keep them fun and keep them crazy!
6. Colour blur and grain
Gradients and colour transitions have yet again made their way into our lives. We’re seeing loads of techniques being used. We’re talking blending, layering, colour blurring and distorted text.
So, there we have it… the latest design trends so far in 2021. We’re loving incorporating them into our work and we hope we’ve inspired you to get creative!
